One of the insights was that if you are not laying conduit when you are ripping up your streets you are missing an opportunity to save money in the fibre optic wiring of your community. So says the Milo Medin, VP of Google while commenting on the reason why Kansas City was the successful applicant to become a test site for Google’s ultra high speed wireless connectivity.
What have we done in North Vancouver as it appears as though we have been ripping up most of our major streets for development or to install insulated hot water pipes for the Lonsdale Energy Corporation? I will find out and report back in a future blog.
In the meantime, think about the future of the City of North Vancouver. The City Shaping process is getting underway. We need to think about how everything flows: our water, sewage, traffic, work, play and our data. I am resolved to get back to blogging more regularly and this will certainly be one of the major themes.
