The City of North Vancouver staff are not experts in urban agriculture and global food security, nor should they be. That is why I voted against a recent motion to have staff ponder food security in the City. This issue can only be meaningfully dealt with on a regional, provincial or national scale. In the meantime, unlike what you might have read in the North Shore News, we are not about to start eating our neighbours. That would be in poor taste, and, besides, many of us are vegetarians.
