We are starting over, but we do have $5.6 million of the Province’s money to pursue a new vision. What should we do? Do we want an architectural monument, an attraction to bring the world to the City? Or do we want a community-facing attraction that houses the Museum, a theatre and perhaps CapU? Can and should we reflect the re-birth of the shipbuilding industry on the North Shore waterfront that is happening as a result of the $8 billion dollar procurement announced by the federal government? The future is all possibility.
These projects take time but we have a great track record in the City. The Library, the Artist’s For Kid’s Trust Gallery and the Pier development itself are the results of patience, good planning and sustained interest by the community. And new vision for Lot 5 will need more of the same.
