The existing Harry Jerome facility is beyond repair. Its cinder block structure is seismically deficient, and its heating and plumbing systems are failing. It has a hopeless rabbit warren layout. Most of the rooms are being used to serve purposes that were not even thought of when the original Lonsdale Recreation Centre was built. We deserve and can afford better.
The community recreation center is the shared ‘rec room’ and more for all of us. It is a key component of a compact urban, environmentally responsible community where we can have all the opportunity to live the best possible life.
